Individual Biographies


Nancy Hurrell performs on Renaissance harp, Celtic harp, and classical harp. In addition to being the harpist in Renaissonics, Hurrell performs with the O'Carolan Consort and performs solo concerts across the United States and Canada. Hurrell is on the harp faculty at the Boston Conservatory, and coaches harp ensembles around the US. She has been a performer at numerous festivals including the Boston Early Music Festival, Amherst Early Music Festival, HarpCon, Somerset Harp Festival, and conferences of the American Harp Society. Hurrell began harp studies at the University of Texas, continuing in Wales with Glenis Gordon-Fleet, and at Trinity College, Carmarthen; her Master of Music in harp performance is from Texas Christian University. She has studied historical harp in masterclasses with Andrew Lawrence-King. With an interest in historical harp research, Hurrell is a harp consultant at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. On classical harp, Nancy Hurrell performs throughout New England, and is the harpist for tea at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Boston. She can be heard on several recordings with her latest solo CD of Renaissance harp music entitled "Balletto". Hurrell's three published books of harp arrangements are popular with players all over the world.
