We are delighted to announce the debut concert of Boston’s newest musical institution. The Boston Recorder Orchestra performs on a matched set of handmade Renaissance Recorders - eight different sizes from sopranos to more than six foot tall contrabasses - by Italian master craftsman Francesco LiVirghi.
The concert will feature a wide variety of musical styles ranging from Renaissance antiphonal music, chansons, motets and dances to contemporary tone poems and popular music. Works of Josquin des Prez, Giovanni Gabrieli, Giorgio Mainerio, Claude Le Jeune, Frances Blaker, Paul Simon and more!
The Boston Recorder Orchestra is directed by internationally acclaimed recorder soloist and faculty member of the New England Conservatory of Music, John Tyson.
The performance will be in historic Old North Church in Boston’s charming North End.
